Sex is already one of those weird things. Its mostly pleasure driven, with a result to keep the species alive. But thats getting antiquated, as tech lets us keep life going in other ways. Humans are absolete in the sense that life can be created in other ways, and will end up being fully manufactured going forward.
In time humans will go extinct because we are so primitive. No life will be based on our primitive design. No life will want to be based on our primitive design.
so sex with robots will come because we are going to be replaced and what we do to fulfill our sexual urges won't matter so much any longer. At first it will be just about fulfilling the urges of what humans remain. Then our counts will dwindle .. new species will rise up, perfected humanoids, cyborgs.. and androids. And many other types of life forms ..
Sex will be replaced with manufacurement and perhaps new forms of self replication. If sex remains it will be hard coded into existence because someone wanted to keep it around.
Additionally, today several examples exist of people already having sex with each other, same sex, opposite sex, other races, cripples, their hands and body parts, other people with plastic etc inbetween, with clothes on or off, willingly and unwillingly, with force and no force, for payment and no payment, with single partner and multiple partners, animals, odd objects (like vetetables, pieces of matter, shower heads and water jets, dildos, laundry washers and vibrational machines, computer electronics, dolls), etc. What's new?
